1. Though these appeals are listed for admission, with the consent of learned counsel on both sides, they are heard finally.

2. MFA No. 5279/2016 is filed by the claimants seeking enhancement of compensation, while MFA No. 5050/2016 is filed by the insurance company assailing the judgment and award of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Bangalore (hereinafter referred to as "the Tribunal") in MVC No. 2578/2014, dated 27.04.2016. For the sake of convenience, the parties shall be referred to in terms of their status before the Tribunal.

3. The claimants filed the claim petition under Section 166 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 seeking compensation on account of death of K. Venu in a road traffic accident. According to the claimants, on 15.03.2014, at about 10.00 p.m. the deceased K. Venu was crossing the road and was about to reach the footpath near Vijinapura underpass, Kasturi Nagar junction.
