JUDGMENT

Chakradhari Sharan Singh, J. - The petitioners, nine in number, have challenged the result of 64th Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, published on 16.07.2020 by the Bihar Public Service Commission (hereinafter referred to as the B.P.S.C.) and have sought for a direction to the respondent B.P.S.C. to revise the said result after adopting the method of scaling/moderation/standardization of the marks for determining inter se merits of candidates and publish the result afresh accordingly.

2. The process of selection on the basis of the 64th Combined Competitive Examination was initiated with the issuance of advertisement by the B.P.S.C. on 02.08.2018, for filling up of various posts under the State Government of Bihar. As per the advertisement, the selection process in question is based on a (i) preliminary test and (ii) those, who qualify in the said test, are permitted to appear in the Main Examination. Under the scheme of the advertisement, after clearing the preliminary test, a candidate was required to submit his on-line application form, for the Main Examination and opt one, out of the thirty four optional subjects, mentioned in Clause 10 (III) of the advertisement.
