JUDGMENT :

1. Aggrieved by the inadequate compensation awarded by the learned Judge, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, 3rd Court, Alipore (hereinafter referred to as the Tribunal) in MAC Case No. 32 of 2011 vide judgment dated 31.05.2013, the appellant Sayra Banu, an unfortunate mother, has preferred the instant appeal challenging the award. By the impugned award the learned Tribunal directed the respondent No.1, United India Insurance Company Limited to pay an amount of Rs.7,69,812/- as compensation to the appellant with interest at the rate of 9% per annum from the date of filing of the case.

2. The facts which led the filing of the claim application may be summarised as under:

    On 15.07.2011 at about 19:30 hours Mehtab Hossain Sh @ Sk. Mehatab Hossain, the son of the claimant Saira Banu was coming along C.G.R. Road from East to West direction by a motor cycle bearing No. WB-20Y-4223. While he reached the junction of C.G.R. Road and Sick Lane, at that time a vehicle (lorry) bearing registration No. NL-01-G-1753 driven in rash and negligent manner and coming towards the same directi
