Headnote:Civil – escalation – Sections 4, 6, 18, 23 (2), 28 and 54 of Land Acquisition Act, 1894 and Land Acquisition (Amendment) Act – mode of computation of just and fair market value of acquired land at time of acquisition on date of issuance of notification under Section 4 and 6 – no firm legal backing for computing rate of escalation in price of acquired land – such exercise depend on various factors – period of escalation required to be computed – general rate of growth money during that period – during 1980s rate of interest was 10% to 12% - rate of 12% just and reasonable basis for computing escalation.
