Mr. Justice R.S. Mongia, President—This is an appeal against the order of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Gurdaspur (hereinafter called the “District Forum”) dated 10.6.2005, by which the complaint of the complainant (now respondent) was allowed in the following terms :
“The complaint is accordingly accepted. The opposite party is directed to pay all the benefits of insurance policy No. 150920844 of Sat Pal Gandhi to the complainant along with interest @ 6% per annum from the date of repudiation of the claim i.e., 30.9.2003 till date of payment. Opposite party is further directed to pay an amount of Rs. 2,000 as compensation for harassment and mental agony caused to her and Rs. 500 as costs of litigation to the complainant. Compliance of the order be made within one month from the date of receipt of copy of the order.”
2. Brief facts are that in the present case one Shri Sat Pal Gandhi had taken a life insurance policy from the opposite party (now appellant) on 28.3.2000 in the sum of Rs. 50,000 and as per the allegations in the complaint Sat Pal Gandhi had died a natural death.
