(ii) Consumer Protection Act, 1986-Sections 12, 14 & 17 - Prayer for direction to the Department that until it does make available the fixed quantity of water, each bill for the water should be sent for Rs. 6.75 instead of Rs. 16/- - Such a relief is not contemplated u/s. 14(1) of the Act- To modify the rate or reducing the same has to be done by the Rules or the notification. (Paras 3 & 4)
Result: Complaint dismissed.
IMPORTANT POINT
To modify the water supply rate or reducing the same has to be done by the Rules or the notification and the Consumer Forum is not empowered to give any such direction to the Department.
