R.K. Batta, Presiding Member—Both these revisions arise out of the same impugned order of the State Commission and as such, the same were heard together and are being disposed of by a common order.
2. How an inflated claim can be filed by a consumer, is best illustrated by the matter under consideration. The services of M/s Sabharwal Galaxy Colour Lab & Studio (hereinafter referred to as the said ‘Studio’) had been hired by the complainant, Smt. Sneh Sabharwal (hereinafter referred to as ‘complainant’) for taking photographs and video during the course of marriage ceremony and certain other ceremonies relating to marriage of the daughter of the complainant on 2.3.2000. The ceremonies to be covered for video and still photography as also the rates for the same were recorded on paper, which was signed by the complainant. Advance of Rs. 800 was paid to start with and further advance of Rs. 3,000 was given when the functions were being covered. The said Studio raised bill of Rs. 12,643, which was disputed by the complainant. The dispute between them could not be resolved and the complainant filed complaint on 1.5.2001 with the Consumer Forum claiming compensation of Rs. 5,00,000,
