V.K. Jain, Presiding Member—The complainant / respondent sent a consignment of cloth to his brother in Orissa by way of a registered parcel paying a sum of Rs.68/- as the parcel charges. The aforesaid parcel however, was not delivered to the consignee. Being aggrieved from the non-delivery of the parcel, the complainant / respondent approached the concerned District Forum by way of a consumer complaint, seeking a sum of Rs.10,800/- that being the value of the parcel, along with compensation quantified at Rs.95,000/- and the amount of Rs.68/- which he had paid as parcel charges.
2. The petitioners contested the complaint stating therein that though the article had been lost they had already sanctioned a sum of Rs.100/- in favour of the complainant.
3. The District Forum directed the petitioners to pay a sum of Rs.10,800/- to the complainant, along with compensation quantified at Rs.10,000/-. Being aggrieved from the order passed by the District Forum the petitioner approached the concerned State Commission by way of an appeal. The said appeal having been dismissed, the petitioner is before this Commission by way of the present revision petition.
