ORDER

Ajit Bharihoke, Presiding Member—The petitioner being aggrieved of the order of the State Commission, Chandigarh dated 10.3.2017 resulting in dismissal of his appeal against the order of the State Commission dismissing the complaint, has preferred this revision petition.

2. Briefly put, facts relevant for the disposal of the revision petition are that the wife of the petitioner purchased a life insurance policy from the respondent insurance company on 5.11.2013. The insurance premium was to be paid annually. The insured had paid first two installments, initial installment vide cheque dated 5.11.2013 for Rs.24,250/- and the second installment vide cheque dated 28.2.2014. The policy was operative from 5.11.2013 to 5.11.2025. Due to financial constraint the petitioner insured could not deposit the third premium which was due w.e.f. 5.11.2015. The insured unfortunately died on 7.12.2015. The insurance claim submitted by the petitioner was repudiated by the opposite party vide letter dated 4.1.2016 on the ground that the policy had lapsed on account of non-payment of third premium without any paid up value as on the date of death.
