ORDER
J.M. Malik, (P.M) - Shri Ashwani Kumar, since deceased, was having an LPG Connection issued by H.P. State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., OP1. The said Gas Cylinder was filled by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., OP2. On 07.08.2013, when the deceased Sh. Ashwani Kumar, was fixing regulator/replacing the cylinder, the LPG leaked from the said cylinder in a small room adjoining the kitchen which was used as 'pooja' room. 'Jyoti' - oil lamp was lit and because of that, leaked gas caught fire. The deceased Sh. Ashwani Kumar, got trapped in that fire and suffered serious burn injuries. His wife, Smt. Geeta Devi, complainant No.3, also sustained burn injuries, when she tried to extinguish the fire from the clothes of the deceased.
2. The deceased Sh. Ashwani Kumar was taken to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College-cum-Hospital, Tanda, in Kangra District and thereafter to a private hospital, namely, Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana. Ultimately, he succumbed to injuries in PGI Hospital, Chandigarh. The Legal Representatives of the deceased Sh. Ashwani Kumar, had to pay a sum of Rs. 8,04,899.76.
