( 1 ) THE petitioner-Sandip Pritpal Sing Khanuja who came to be arrested on 13-12-1992 (Sic.)by the Customs Officers in connection with CR No. 645/92 on the file of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ahmedabad for the alleged offence punishable under Section 135 of the Customs Act 1962 for having been found in possession of 15 gold biscuits valued at Rs. 1 35 0 allegedly smuggled in India from Singapore concealed in tape-recorder has by this application moved this Court for getting himself released on bail challenging the impugned judgment and the order dated 3-3-1992 passed by the learned Additional City Sessions Judge Court No. 20 Ahmedabad dismissing his bail application.

( 2 ) MR. M. B. Ahuja the Ld. Advocate appearing for the petitioner making fervent plea to release the petitioner on bail has made following submissions: (1) That the petitioner is a young man aged 26 years having no criminal antecedents. (2) That the petitioner hails from a very respectable family which is never alleged to have been involved in any criminal offence. (3) That the alleged offence is a first lapse on the part of the petitioner in his life and deserves to be lightly viewed an
