1. This is an appeal, against the judgment and decree, dated 14-6-2007, passed, in Title Suit (Divorce) Case No. 11 of 2003, by the learned District Judge, Tinsukia, refusing to dissolve the marriage between the appellant and the respondent. The case of the appellant may, in brief, be described thus: The parties to the suit solemnized their marriage, on 3-3-1998, under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, at the office of the Registrar of Marriages, Tinsukia. About two months after marriage, i.e., on 24-5-1998, the respondent came to the house of the appellant without the consent of her mother and started leading her conjugal life with the appellant. However, on that very day, the respondent's mother came to the house of the appellant and she took away from the respondent her earrings and chain, which the respondent had brought from her matrimonial house. The mother of the respondent even rubbed the vermillion from the head of the respondent. At the time of her marriage with the appellant, the respondent was a student of Part-I degree course.
