JUDGMENT

Sanjay Karol, J. - Asi Joginder Singh, I/C Police Post, Junga, Police Station, Dhalli, District Shimla, H.P., is present alongwith record. Record perused and returned. Status report filed and taken on record.

2. F.I.R. No.99 of 2018, under Section 14 of the Himachal Pradesh Prevention of Specific Corrupt Practices Act, 1983, was registered at Police Station, Dhalli, District Shimla, H.P., on 31.5.2018. Apprehending arrest, petitioner approached this Court seeking bail under the provisions of Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. On 4.6.2018, this Court passed an interim order directing that in the event of arrest, petitioner shall be enlarged on bail, subject to his complying with the conditions imposed therein. The said interim order is in operation till date.

3. Allegedly, 416 trees falling within the territorial jurisdiction of UPF Shalot, Koti Range, were illicitly felled by certain persons. At the time of occurrence of offence, allegedly, the present petitioner namely Prakash Chand, who was posted as Block Officer of the area in question, failed to discharge his duty resulting into such illicit felling of trees.
