The short question that this court is called upon to decide in this case is: whether in computing the period of limitation prescribed for the presentation of a document for registration under section 72 (2) of the Registration Act, the day, on which the order is made by the District Registrar under section 72 (1) directing that such document be admitted to registration, is to be excluded or not.

2. The facts are these: One Ghulam Mohamad Malik, respondent No. 3 herein, executed a sale deed on 2-6-1971 in favour of the petitioner. The sale deed was presented for registration before the Sub-Registrar Srinagar, respondent No. 2 herein, on 28-9-1971. The Sub-Registrar refused registration, apparently, on account of the non-appearance of the executant. The petitioner went in appeal to the Registrar (District Judge, Srinagar), respondent No. 1 herein. The Registrar allowed the appeal by his order dated 10-7-1972 and directed that the deed be admitted to registration. Pursuant to this order the deed was presented for registration before the Sub-Registrar Srinagar on 9-8-1972. Holding that the presentation of the deed was time barred, the Sub-Registrar made an order directing that the same
