This is a public interest litigation in respect of a service matter. It has been repeatedly held by the Supreme Court that no public interest litigation lies in service matters, the latest decision being GOPAL SINGH v. STATE OF PUBJAB (2005 J.T. [5] SC 389). Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. Connected WPMP Nos.20555 and 20556 of 2000 are closed.
