M.S. Ramesh, J.

The petitioner's request to the respondent to register the final decree proceedings dated 15.09.2011 passed in I.A. No.94 of 2006 in O.S. No.853 of 2002 on the file of the Principal District Munsif Court, Salem, was rejected through a Check Slip dated 11.09.2012 on the ground that the presentation of the said document is barred by limitation prescribed under Sections 23 and 25 of the Registration Act, 1908.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3. The Sections 23 and 25 of the Registration Act, 1908 read as follows:

Sections 23: Time for presenting documents: Subject to the provisions contained in Sections 24, 25 and 26, no document other than a will shall be accepted for registration unless presented for that purpose to the proper officer within four months from the date of its execution:

Provided that a copy of a decree or order may be presented within four months from the date on which the decree or order was made, or, where it is appealable, within four months from the day on which it becomes final.
