JUDGMENT :

Prayer: Original Petition filed under Section 34 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 praying to set aside the award dated 07.01.2019 passed by the learned Hon’ble Arbitrator Tmt. Justice Aruna Jagadeesan (Retired).

1. The respondent before the arbitral Tribunal has filed the above Original petition challenging the award dated 07.01.2019 directing the petitioner herein to pay a sum of Rs.1,29,54,007/- together with interest at the rate of 18% per annum from the date of claim till date of realization. In order to appreciate the challenge to the said award it is necessary to briefly narrate the facts that has culminated in the filing of the petition under Section 34 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, hereinafter referred to as the 1996 Act.
