SURYA KANT, J.

1. Mr. B. S. Baath, learned AAG, Punjab, accepts notice. The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondents for his premature release. As per the averments made in the petition, the petitioner is a life convict under Sec.302 IPC etc. It is alleged that the petitioner has undergone the total sentence of 16 years 5 months and in terms of the Government policy, he is entitled for premature release. It is further averred that the petitioners case for premature release was initiated on 5.6.2006, however, no final decision has been taken so far.

2. After hearing learned counsel for the parties and without going in to the merits of the case, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to take a final decision with regard to the petitioners premature release, in accordance with law, within a period of two months from the date a certified copy of this order is received.
