JUDGMENT

Hari Pal Verma, J. (Oral) - Prayer in this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 Cr.P.C. and Sections 3(l)(b), (d) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962, is for grant of parole of 8 weeks on account of marriage of the son of the petitioner. Prayer has also been made for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari for setting aside the impugned order dated 26.02.2021 (Annexure P-l) whereby the Superintendent, District Jail, Sangrur has rejected the prayer of the petitioner for grant of parole.

2. Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was convicted by the learned Special Court, Fatehgarh Sahib and sentenced to undergo R.I. for 10 years in case FIR No.169 dated 04.12.2009 under Sections 22 of NDPS Act, Police Station Bassi Pathana, District Fatehgarh Sahib. Against the judgment of conviction, his appeal i.e. CRA-S-1217-SB-2016 is pending admitted before this Court. The petitioner was released on parole from District Jail, Nabha in March, 2020 and on account of Covid-19 pandemic, the parole was extended.
