ORDER:

This Criminal Petition, under Sectdions 480 and 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has been filed by the petitioner/accused, seeking bail, in Crime No.235/2024 of Rayadurg Police Station, Ananthapuram District.

2. A case has been registered against the petitioner and others for the offences u/Sec.85 and 108 B.N.S.

3. Case of the prosecution is that on 01.12.2024, the, informant, who is the mother of the deceased G.Naseema, gave a report to police alleging that marriage of the deceased was performed with the accused in the year 2017. After the marriage, the accused started harassing the deceased physically and mentally for want of additional dowry and also threatened her with dire consequences. Due to unbearable harassment of the accused, the deceased committed suicide on 30.11.2024 by hanging herself to an iron rod. Basing on the report, police registered the case and investigated into. During the course of investigation, police arrested the petitioner on 03.12.2024.

5. Learned Assistant Public Prosecutor submits that investigation is at nascent stage and some more witnesses are to be examined and opposed the bail application.

6. A perusal of the material available on record goes to show that the petitioner was arrested on 03.12.2024 and since then he is in judicial remand. The offences alleged against the petitioner are grave offences. As stated by the learned Assistant Public Prosecutor, the investigation is at nascent stage and some more witnesses are to be examined. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner, at this stage.

7. Accordingly, the Criminal Petition is dismissed.
