1. This criminal appeal has been filed against an judgement and order of conviction dated January 9, 2014 passed by the learned Court of 7th Additional Sessions, Judge, Alipore in session trial no. 1(1) 03 for commission of offence punishable under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced the Appellant and his mother to suffer rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay a fine of ₹2000 each in default to suffer simple imprisonment for six months for committing the offence punishable under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code.

A complaint was lodged before the officer in charge, Police Station Kasba by Sushil Kumar Sarkar on March 19, 2002 alleging that his youngest daughter got married with the present Appellant on March 6, 1997, according to Hindu rights and custom, and after marriage, they started living together in his residence at Eastend Park.
