1. The petitioner, being a senior citizen, appears in person and submits that the filtered water connection has not been given in his favour till date.

2. Learned counsel for the Corporation submits that request was made to the petitioner for applying for new filtered water ferule connection as per the KMC norms, but the same has not been made till date.

3. The petitioner refers to an order passed by the City Civil Court, 6th Bench, Calcutta on January 31, 1975 in Title Suit No.226 of 1972 in support of the submission that he is occupying the portion of Lot B in premises no.9B, Kashi Dutta Street, Kolkata in terms of the aforesaid order.

4. From the submission made on behalf of the parties, it appears that an issue has cropped up with regard to the premises number of the premises which he is actually possessing. Till the same is resolved, the Corporation may not be in a position to provide water connection to the petitioner.

5. The report of the Executive Engineer, Water Supply/North, Kolkata Municipal Corporation dated March 10, 2025 records that one Mr. R. Jaiswal, owner of 9B, Kashi Dutta Street applied for new filtered water ferule connection and the same has been allowed.

6. As the petitioner is, admittedly, in possession of the subject premises, the Executive Engineer, Water Supply/North, KMC is hereby directed to take steps to ensure that a temporary filtered water ferule connection is provided to the petitioner.

7. The minimum formality to be complied with for obtaining such temporary connection shall be made known to the petitioner by March 27, 2025. Endeavour shall be made to provide the temporary connection to the petitioner by April 8, 2025.

8. Relist on April 10, 2025 for recording compliance.

9. Report filed by the Executive Engineer Water Supply/North dated March 10, 2025 be taken on record.

10. Both the parties are directed to cooperate with each other for effective compliance of the direction passed hereinabove.

11. All parties are to act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this court.
