1. This appeal is directed against a judgment and order dated April 24, 2015, whereby the writ petition of the respondent no. 1 herein being WP No.

2662 of 1996, was allowed by a learned Judge of this Court.

2. The material facts of the case are that Cricket Association of Bengal (in short ‘CAB’) enjoys a lease of the Eden Gardens ground in the city of Kolkata. The owner of the property and the lessor is the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

3. The inaugural ceremony of the Wills World Cup of 1996 was organized by CAB at the Eden Gardens on February 11, 1996. Thereafter, a Semifinal match of the World
