The present OA has been filed by the applicant challenging the order dated 11.12.2020, whereby the applicant’s request for appointment on compassionate grounds was rejected.

2. After issuance of notice, the respondents have filed their counter affidavit. Learned counsel for the respondents submits that during the pendency of the OA, there have been subsequent developments in favour of the applicant. It is submitted that although the applicant was seeking appointment on compassionate grounds, the respondents had decided to engage the applicant on a contractual basis. Initially, the applicant was engaged for a period of 89 days vide order dated 06.05.2025. The said engagement was thereafter extended for a further period of 89 days. It is submitted that the applicant is continuing in the department till date.

Learned counsel for the respondents further submits that, as per the relevant rules and practice of the department, the case of the applicant for appointment as a regular Safai Karamchari is required to be considered by the competent committee, which is scheduled to meet in the month of February, 2026. It is submitted that the applicant’s case shall be considered in due course and the applicant shall be informed accordingly.

4. Considering the above submissions and the fact that the applicant is presently working with the respondents and her case for regular appointment is stated to be under consideration, it is expected that the due process shall be completed expeditiously and the applicant shall be appointed as daily wager (regular safai karamchari), preferably within a period of two months.

5. With the above observations, the OA is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. No costs.
