In this O.A., the applicants are seeking for a direction to the second respondent to grant age relaxation to the applicants and to consider and appoint the applicants to the post of Trained Graduate Teacher with all other consequential benefits.

2. It is stated by the applicants that they are fully qualified for the post of Trained Graduate Teacher and that the applicants 1 to 8 are qualified in the faculty of Mathematics and applicants 9 to 11 are qualified in the faulty of English. It is further stated that the second respondent has issued a notification on 22.01.2024 calling for applications for filling up 286 vacancies of Trained Graduate Teacher in the Puducherry and Karaikal Region, 12 vacancies in Yanam Region. Out of 286 vacancies for the Puducherry and Karaikal region, 58 vacancies are earmarked for the faculty of Mathematics and 52 vacancies are earmarked for the faculty of English. The applicants have all the qualifications prescribed in the notification and have also obtained the qualification of TNTET/CTET and hence they are all entitled to submit their applications for the post of Trained Graduate Teacher.

It is further stated that the maximum age limit prescribed as per notification is 30 years as on 22.02.2024 and the OBC/MBC candidates are entitled to get 3 years relaxation in the upper age limit. All the applicants herein belong to OBC/MBC category except applicants 10th and 11th who belong to SC category and are entitled to get the benefit of five years of age relaxation. The applicants are also entitled to get the benefit of age relaxation of two years provided under G.O.Ms. 50 dated

29.07.2022 in upper age limit, in the same manner as is applicable to Group-C posts.
