1.Sine common grievances are raised, all these six Original Applications were heard together and are being disposed of by this common order. Documents produced by the applicants in O.A.303/2025 are referred for convenience.
2. Applicants are either serving or retired Inspectors, Superintendents, Assistant Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners or Joint Commissioners or successors in interest of those officers who are no more, who all had started service as Inspectors. Prior to 5th CPC recommendations the scale of Inspectors was at Rs.1640-2900. At that time, the scale of Superintendent and analogous categories was Rs.2000-3500. With effect from 01.01.1996, on the basis of the 5th CPC recommendations the scales were revised to Rs.5500-9000 in the post of Inspectors/Preventive Officers and to Rs.6500-10500 for the post of Superintendents and similar categories. The grievance of the applicants is that, however, when compared to the scales of analogous posts in other departments, there occurred disparities in the pay scale recommended by the 5th CPC.
