HIGH COURT OF CHHATTISGARH AT BILASPUR
Parth Prateem Sahu, J
SMT. KIRAN DADSENA – Appellant
Versus
STATE OF CHHATTISGARH – Respondent
WPS No. 2263 of 2026
For the Appellants/Petitioners: Parth Kumar Jha
For the Respondents: Vivek Verma
A writ petition is rendered infructuous and liable for dismissal when the primary grievance sought to be redressed is resolved by the concerned administrative authority during the pendency of the proceedings.
Headnote:The petitioners sought the refixation of their seniority from the date of initial appointment and the correction of the gradation list dated 02.02.2026. It was found that the Director, Directorate of Medical Education, had canceled the gradation lists published on 02.02.2026 and 20.02.2026, thereby redressing the grievances of the petitioners via an order dated 27.02.2026. The central issue was whether the writ petition remained maintainable after the administrative authority took corrective measures. The court reasoned that since the grievances had been redressed by the respondent authority, the petition had been rendered infructuous. the writ petition is dismissed as rendered infructuous in view of the order dated 27.02.2026 passed by the Director, Directorate of Medical Education.
