Information sought:
“1. Please provide certified copies of Awards passed by the Hon'ble Ombudsman for the Month of June, July & August 2023.”
“Information sought can not be provided as per section 8 (1) (j) of RTI Act 2005 i.e. 'information which relates to personal information the disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individual unless the Central Public Information Officer or the State Public Information Officer or the Appellate Authority, as the case may be, is satisfied that the larger public interest justifies the disclosure of such information.
Being dissatisfied, the appellant filed a First Appeal dated 10.10.2023. The FAA vide its order dated 03.11.2023, upheld the reply of CPIO with the following observations:
4. The funds for running the Office of Insurance Ombudsman is granted by the Council of Insurance Ombudsman.
6. Insurance ombudsman performs quasi judicial functions. Both public and private Insurance Company come under the jurisdiction of the Insurance Ombudsman. There is no fee to be paid
