1. The Appellant filed an RTI application dated 02.11.2023 (offline) seeking the following information:

“Details of rewards sanctioned by the DGGI, Zonal Unit, Bhopal, during July, 2020 to 02.11.2023. In case the information is readily not available, copy of the reward register maintained for this purpose may be provided.

a. Details of rewards sanctioned to the officers in following format.

2. The CPIO furnished a reply to the Appellant on 24.11.2023 stating as under:

“Please refer to your RTI application dated 02.11.2023 bearing receipt no. 5717812 and enclosing Indian Postal Order no. 62F101053 filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005 received in this office on

02.11.2023.

In this regard, it is to apprise that information sought vide your application dated 02.11.2023 can't be provided as it is falling under exemption from disclosure under following sections of the RTI act 2005: - Section 8(1)(d) information including commercial confidence, trade secrets or intellectual property, the disclosure of which would harm the competitive position of a third party. unless the competent authority is satisfied that larger public interest warrants the disclosure of such information, Section 8(1)(e) information available to a person in his fiduciary relationship, unless the competent authority is satisfied that the larger public interest warrants the disclosure of such information, Section 8(1)(g) information, the disclosure of which would endanger the life or physical safety of any person or identify the source of information or assistance given in confidence for law enforcement or security purposes &

Section 8(1)(j) information which relates to personal information the disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individual unless the Central Public Information Officer or the State Public Information Officer or the appellate authority, as the case may be, is satisfied that the larger public interest justifies the disclosure of such information.”

3. Being dissatisfied, the Appellant filed a First Appeal dated 06.12.2023.

The FAA vide its order dated 01.04.2023, upheld the reply of CPIO.
