Information sought:
1. The Appellant filed an RTI application dated 09.10.2024(offline) seeking
the following information:
“We are the non-political & non-religious independent group of people working
under the banner INDIA AGAINST ADULTERATION" based at Panchkula,

##PAGE2##Haryana. We are working for the welfare of the general public and also making
them aware of their rights regarding consuming pure food items. But
Adulteration of majority of edibles is taking a serious turn in India and the evil
is spreading its wing further with the passing of each day. The manufacturers/
Suppliers/ retailers etc are playing with the life of general people and there
seems to be no end of adulterating the food items.
Now, Even the common medicines are also being found fake as detected by
CDSCO during a recent raids. On one side the Indian Public is getting almost each
food item adulterated and on the other side these medicines have been found
to be fake. What the public should do. The hospitals are overcrowded with the
flood of patients as a result of eating adulterated food items. People of every
age are suffering from very serious diseases including cancer and there seems
to be no end. Thus want to know as follow;
1. Whether FSSAI has in place the officer wise, designation wise any norms of
periodical inspection/raid with the periodicity/frequency for checking the
quality of edible items. If yes, please provide the copy of such instructions
thereof.
2. How many surprise raids / inspections have been carried out during the last 2
years by FSSAI officers in the country as a whole for the period commencing from
1st Sept, 2022 to 30th Sept 2024. Supply the details their off.
3. Against how many people FIR have been lodged during the above said period.
Supply details thereof.
4. Have FSSAI been able to get any defaulter imprisoned for adulteration as a
penalty due the raid/inspections conducted by your organisation during the last
5 years. Supply the details thereof.
5. How many court cases are pending from the date of conducting
raid/inspection in various court of law in the country as on 30.09.2024. provide
the details thereof.
6. How many Licenses of manufacturers/ producers of edible items have been
suspended for during the last 5 year. Details thereof.
7. How many defaulting manufacturers/ producers/Suppliers are still under
suspension as on 30.09.2024. Supply the details thereof. Necessary IPO toward
fee of Rs 10/ is enclosed herewith.”
2. The CPIO furnished a reply to the Appellant on 19.11.2024 stating as
under:
