1. The present writ petition raises a grievance as regards rampant illegal commercial activities in the basement of properties in D Block, Defence Colony, New Delhi, on the road adjacent to Main Lala Lajpat Rai Road.

2. The instant petition came up for hearing on 22.11.2023, on which date, it was submitted on behalf of the respondent no.3 that it is seized of the matter and shall take appropriate action, in accordance with law.

Consequently, the present writ petition was disposed of in view of the said statement.

3. Thereafter, CM APPL.7570/2024 came to be filed by the petitioners wherein it was averred that there has been rampant increase in the establishment of commercial shops/institutions in the aforesaid road in the residential colony of D Block, Defence Colony, New Delhi, in violation of applicable regulations and MPD 2021. Specific examples were also cited in the said application. Consequently, this Court had directed the MCD to file a status report.

4. In the status report filed on behalf of the MCD, it has been stated as under :-
