1. In our order dated 09.07.2025, we had required the GNCTD to give the clear roadmap for filling up the vacancies in the entire cadre of Prosecutors in the Directorate of Prosecution.
2. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home), GNCTD has joined these proceedings through Video Conferencing and has stated that so far as the Recruitment Rules pertaining to recruitment of Public Prosecutors is concerned, they have been recruited by the office of the Lieutenant Governor and within ten days, the Government shall be sending the requisition through Union Public Service Commission for initiating the process of appointment.
3. In respect of the posts of Additional Public Prosecutors and Assistant Public Prosecutors, it has been stated by Mr. Vinay Kumar that the Rules are at final stage of being finalized and within four weeks necessary approval from the office of the Lieutenant Governor is likely to be obtained. He has further stated that as soon as the approval from the office of Lieutenant Governor is obtained, within ten days requisition for initiating the recruitment process for appointment of Additional Public Prosecutors and Assistant Public Prosecutors shall also be sent.
4. List on 22.12.2025 to enable the learned counsel representing the Union Public Service Commission to seek instructions as to within which minimum period, once the requisition for filling up the posts of Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors and Assistant Public Prosecutors, is sent by the Government, the posts can be filled in.
5. The office is directed to communicate this order to Mr. Ravinder Agarwal, learned counsel representing the Union Public Service Commission, forthwith.
