1. By way of the present writ petition, the petitioner is seeking issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent to release the petitioner on parole for a period of four weeks on the ground of demise of his mother.

2. The petitioner herein was convicted in case arising out of FIR No. 119/2012, registered at PS Kalkaji, New Delhi, for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 302/376/201/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter ‘IPC’).

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner argues that he is presently confined in Central Jail No. 2, Tihar Jai, New Delhi, and has already undergone incarceration of about 13 years and 07 months in actual without remission out of the maximum imprisonment awarded as RI for 20 years with fine.
