O R D E R

1. The present writ petition has been filed seeking directions to the respondents to take action against the persistent menace caused by the stray cattle on the streets and public spaces in and around Vasant Vihar, as well as against the illegal dairies operating in Kusumpur Pahari and other JJ clusters near Vasant Vihar.

2. When the present matter was listed for hearing on 30th April, 2025, learned counsel appearing for the respondent- Municipal Corporation of Delhi (“MCD”), had handed over a document with regard to the action taken by the MCD for impounding of stray cattle and for closing the illegal dairies.

3. Accordingly, the relevant portion of the order dated 30th April, 2025, reads as under:

Learned counsel appearing for respondent no. 1 has handed overacopy ofthe various actionstakenbythe MunicipalCorporation of Delhi (“MCD”), in the area in question for impounding the stray cattle, as well as for closing the illegal dairies. The said table as handed over by learned counsel appearing for the MCD, is reproducedasunder:

4. Subsequently, a Status Report dated 27th August, 2025 has been filed on behalf of the MCD, wherein, it is stated as follows:

5. Similarly, a Status Report dated 28th August, 2025 has also been filed on behalf of the Station House Officer (“SHO”), Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, wherein, it is stated as follows:

6. Perusal of the aforesaid Status Report shows that regular action is being taken by the MCD for impounding the stray cattle. Further, action has also been taken for closing the illegal dairies.

7. This Court also takes note of the submission made by learned counsel appearing for the MCD that proposal for expanding the capacity of existing gaushalas, has been taken up with the respondent-Government of NCT of Delhi (“GNCTD”).

8. He submits that regular action is taken routinely, for impounding the straycattle and the same are thereafter lodged in the gaushalas.

9. He furthers submits that proceedings in that regard are also pending before a Coordinate Bench of this Court.

10. At this stage, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that whenever, in future, any such incident of roaming of stray cattle on the roads/streets is noticed, the petitioners may be allowed to inform the concerned officials of the MCD, in this regard, who may take appropriate action thereto.

11. Accordingly, learned counsel appearing for the MCD is directed to inform to learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, the name, phone number and E-mail of the concerned official, who shall be responsible for removal of straycattle in the area in question.

12. The said details shall be then shared by learned counsel appearing for the petitioners with the President of Vasant Vihar, D Block, RWA.

13. In case, anyincident of straycattle is found, the President or any other authorized representative of Vasant Vihar, D Block, RWA, shall be at liberty to inform the said official, who shall ensure that the requisite action is taken. 14. With the aforesaid directions, the present writ petition, along with pending applications, is accordinglydisposed of.
