1. The present petition seeks quashing of the rejection order dated 20^th February, 2014 and the decision taken in the minutes of meeting dated 17^th January, 2014 of the Recommendation Committee constituted by the Land & Building Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, whereby the Petitioners’ application dated 2^nd February, 1994 for allotment of an alternative plot in lieu of acquired land was rejected.

2. At the outset, considering that the petition has been filed after a delay of approximately 12 years, the Court queried counsel for the Petitioners regarding the reasons for approaching this Court at such belated stage.

3. In response, it is submitted that Petitioner No. 2 had been convicted in FIR No. 9/1983 and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment
