1. This is a writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking the following reliefs:

a. “Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus directing, commanding and requiring Respondent No. 1 (CBSE) forthwith to correct subject of Petitioner from SANSKRIT Elective (Subject code: 022) to HISTORY (Subject code: 027) for the CBSE class XII examination 2026.

b. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus directing, commanding and requiring Respondent No. 1 (CBSE) to issue admit card of Petitioner after correcting her subjects in order to allow her to appear in CBSE Class XII Examination

c. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus directing, commanding and requiring Respondent No. 1 forthwith to allow Petitioner to appear practical/ internal examination of HISTORY (subject code: 027)….”

2. The petitioner is a student of Class XII studying in Govt. Girls Sr.

Secondary School (“respondent No. 2”) and the respondent No. 2 has wrongly, uploaded the petitioner’s subject to be Sanskrit Elective instead of History with the respondent No. 1, i.e. Central Board of Secondary Education (“CBSE”). As a result, the petitioner could not appear in her practical exams.

3. The petitioner makes statement on oath that the petitioner has studied History in Class XI and XII. Despite that, the form of the petitioner shows the petitioner to be a student of Sansksrit Elective.

4. I am of the view that the mistakes are clerical in nature and the academic carrier of the petitioner cannot be permitted to be prejudiced by such clerical errors.

5. For the said reasons, the subject of the petitioner shall be considered as History in place of Sansksrit Elective. CBSE shall make necessary modifications accordingly.

6. Additionally, the clerical error on behalf of the school has resulted in wasting valuable time, resources and energy of the petitioner, which should have been utilized for preparing of the exams. The CBSE is at liberty to impose appropriate costs on the school for the said clerical mistake, after hearing the school.

7. The petitioner shall be entitled to give their practical examinations as well and all consequential actions shall follow automatically.

8. The petition is disposed of in aforesaid terms. The order shall not be treated as a precedent.
