O R D E R
1. Learned counsel appearing for the Delhi Subordinate Staff Selection Board (‘DSSSB’) submits that the result of the selection process/examination for the post of Veterinary Livestock Inspector was declared on 21st May, 2026 and the same has been forwarded to the user department, which is now required to take further steps for expeditious appointment of the officers to the said post.
2. Learned counsel appearing for the Department of Animal Husbandry states that the process for issuance of appointment orders, post police verification and completion of other formalities, shall be done within a period of six weeks from today.
3. The aforesaid statement is accepted and the same shall be treated as an order of this Court. All stakeholder departments, including the Police Department and others who are required to extend cooperation to the animal husbandry department, shall follow the aforesaid timeline.

As regards the selection and appointment to the posts of multi-tasking staff pursuant to the requisition forwarded by the Department to the DSSSB, learned counsel for the DSSSB states that, in any case, the exam process shall be completed by 15th September, 2026 and the results will be declared in regard to all the posts.
5. The statement is accepted as an undertaking to this Court.
6. Let the compliance to that effect be placed on record.

In response to the submission made by learned counsel for the petitioner that no proposal for filling up the 14 posts of Veterinary Officers is presently pending with the UPSC, as could be inferred from the status report submitted by the UPSC, learned counsel for the Department of Animal Husbandry states that within 10 days the proposal for filing up of 14 posts of Veterinary Officers shall be submitted to UPSC.
8. Statement accepted.
9. We, as such, request the UPSC to process the said proposal forthwith and inform this Court the period within which the selection process shall be completed.
10. The counsel for the respondent- UPSC in response to the Court’s query states that once the proposal is received from the Animal Husbandry Department, the UPSC shall stake immediate steps for filling the vacant post of Veterinary Officers.
11. The steps taken in the matter shall be reported back to this Court in any case by 03rd July, 2026.
12. Apart from the above, it is pointed out in the affidavit/status report filed on behalf of respondent nos. 1 to 4 by the Director, Animal Husbandry Department, that such items which are already delivered shall be immediately distributed to the district hospitals and veterinary clinics as per their requirements on pro-rata basis.
13. It is further stated that the fresh tender process is to be initiated immediately for procurement of the other items which are detailed in paragraph 3 in tabular form.
14. It is claimed that by 03rd July, 2026, an affidavit shall be placed on record as regards the status of the tender process so also the distribution of the articles which are already received as reflected in the paragraph 2 of the status report.
15. The counsel for the respondent states that a rejoinder is already received by them and the response to the same in the tabular form will be submitted by the next date of hearing.
16. As regards the shortfall in manpower and machinery, as has been recommended by the Guidelines for Minimum Standards of Veterinary Infrastructure in India framed by the Government of India, let the response be placed on record by the said date.
17. Accordingly, list on 03rd July, 2026.
