Date : 25-01-2024 The instant writ petition has been filed by the petitioners challenging the action of the respondent authorities in trying to evict the petitioners from their place of business at North Lakhimpur town area including N.T. Road, Taxi stand to Daily Bazar Road via Court Tiniali, Daily Bazar Road and C.D. Road, and seeking a direction to allow the petitioners to continue with their vending business in their respective areas without any hindrance and/or to finalize the process of creating vending zones and registration of vendors as per the direction issued by the Supreme Court.

2. The claim of the petitioners herein is that the petitioners are carrying on the business of street vending at various locations within the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board. The petitioners claim that the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board had issued some allotment letters and had also issued tax receipts to them, which have been collectively annexed to the writ petition as “Annexure-1 series”.
