2. Mr. D. Nath, the learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent Nos.1 to 5. Extra copies of the writ petition be served upon him during the course of the day.

3. Six petitioners have joined together and filed the instant writ petition being aggrieved by the manner of selection carried out to the various posts of Constable (UB) and Constable (AB) in the Assam Police in pursuance to the advertisement dated

06.10.2023.

4. This Court has perused the advertisement dated 06.10.2023 and from the same, it appears that 1645 posts of Constable (UB) and 2300 posts of Constable (AB) in Assam Police and 1 post of Constable (UB) in APRO were to be filled up pursuant to the said advertisement. It is also seen that the vacancies mentioned in the advertisement were tentative and it may vary which would be intimated in due course.

5. The grievances of the petitioners herein are that the petitioners have come to learn from the website as regards their marks in the PET + PST as well as in the CWT. However, the petitioners are not aware of their marks in the viva-voce examination.

6. It is the further case of the petitioners that the final result of the selection has been declared on the website on 11.10.2025. As on date, there is still no select list published, and as such, the petitioners are also not aware as regards the cut-off marks.

7. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners further submitted that when the petitioners have searched the website as to whether the petitioners have been selected or not, after providing their names as well as the Roll Numbers, what appears is whether the particular candidate has been selected or not. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners submitted that recruitment to those posts fall within the ambit of Article 16 of the Constitution.
