Date : 13.02.2026 Issue notice making it returnable on 23.03.2026.

2. Mr. S. Dutta, the learned Standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent Nos. 1, 2 and 4; Mr. N. Goswami, the learned Government Advocate accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent No.3 and Mr. R. Borpujari, the learned Standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent No.4 and 5. 3. As the Respondents are duly represented, extra copies of the writ petition be served upon them by 16.02.2026.

4. The Petitioner is the President of 9 No. Lamajuar Gaon Panchayat. The grievance of the Petitioner herein is that during the recent delimitation exercise being carried out, the same have resulted in discrepancies in the population mapping of the said Gaon Panchayat. In that regard, the Petitioner had submitted representation to the Respondent Nos.2 and 4. However no actions in that regard have been taken. It is under such circumstances, the Petitioner has approached this Court.

5. The Respondents herein are directed to bring on record their stand by filing their affidavits on or before 18.03.2026.

6. This Court though has issued notice but the maintainability of the writ petition qua Section 129 of the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994 is kept open.

7. List accordingly.
