The court ordered the impleadment of the Director of Elementary Education as a respondent to obtain essential departmental inputs required for considering the petitioner's case.

ORDER

Heard Mr. I. Alam, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. P.P. Dutta, learned standing counsel for the respondent Nos. 1, 2 and 6; and Ms. M. Yeptho, learned counsel for the respondent No. 3.

Mr. Dutta, learned standing counsel for the respondent Nos. 1, 2 and 6 has produced one letter dated 27.04.2026, of the Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of School Education and on the basis of the said letter, Mr. Dutta submits that for consideration of the case of the petitioner, inputs from the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam is required and the same is being awaited, and as such, he prays for listing the matter after four weeks.

In view of the stand taken by the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam, this Court deems it fit and proper to implead the Director of Elementary Education, Assam as respondent No. 8 in this petition.

Accordingly, it is provided that the Director of Elementary Education, Assam be impleaded as respondent No. 8 in this petition.

Mr. Alam, learned counsel for the petitioner shall take steps for service of notice upon the learned standing counsel for the Elementary Education Department during the course of the day.

List the matter on 29.05.2026.

In the meantime, Mr. Alam, learned counsel for the petitioner shall file amended cause title in this petition.

A copy of the letter dated 27.04.2026, produced by Mr. Dutta, shall be marked as ‘Z’ and tagged with the record.
