The petitioners contend that they should be granted seniority along with candidates chosen pursuant to the same advertisement whose results were declared on 21.01.2021 and who were appointed immediately thereafter. The primary issue is whether the petitioners are entitled to notional seniority relative to candidates appointed from the same recruitment process. The court has taken note of the submissions and issued notice to the respondents. Notice issued, returnable on 10.08.2026.

Heard Mr. H. R. Ahmed, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners. Also heard Ms. A. Gayan, learned CGC appearing for the respondents.
By way of this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioners, inter alia, are seeking grant of notional seniority to the petitioners along with the candidates pursuant to the same advertisement, whose result was declared on 21.01.2021, who were appointed immediately thereafter.
Issue notice, returnable on 10.08.2026.
Ms. A. Gayan, learned CGC accepts notice on behalf of all the respondents.
