R/SPECIAL CIVIL APPLICATION NO. 9018 of 2026 | C/SCA/9018/2026
For the Appellants/Petitioners: IG Joshi
For the Respondents: Vanita Bharwani
The court directed the administrative authorities to decide a pending representation regarding seniority and appointment dates within a stipulated timeframe of two months.
Headnote:The petitioner approached the court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to decide a representation dated 20.04.2026. The matter concerns a provisional seniority list dated 17.04.2026 and the deemed date of appointment assigned to reserved category candidates, which the petitioner claims is prejudicial. The primary issue is whether the respondents should be directed to decide the pending representation within a stipulated timeframe. The court observed that the respondents' counsel agreed to decide the representation if a direction was issued by the court. Present petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents authorities to decide the representation dated 20th April 2026 of the petitioner in accordance with law within a period of two months.
