2. The petitioners are Preliminary Co-operative Societies and members of the respondents No.2 and 3 Secondary Co-operative Societies. Their grievance is that having regard to the objectives as espoused in the bye- laws of the petitioners society, they have been assigned a particular category of constituency in every election conducted to the Secondary Co-operative Society.
However, the petitioner societies are seeking a change from one category to another. The petitioners have approached this Court by filing a writ petition and are seeking directions in the nature of mandamus to the respondent officers of the Secondary Co-operative Society to make necessary changes and to enable the petitioners society to contest in a different category.

However the difficulty for the Secondary Co- operative Societies as submitted by the learned Senior Counsel Sri Jayakumar S.Patil is that the calendar of events have been announced and at this juncture the electoral collage cannot be changed since it will cause interference in the process of election.
