This petition is filed under Section 438 of Cr.P.C praying

to enlarge the petitioner on anticipatory bail in Crime

No.166/2022 registered at Gandhinagar police station for

offences punishable under Section 384, 504, 506, 507 and 511

of IPC.

Heard both the sides and perused the material on

record.

The first informant is working as a police inspector

at Gandhinagar police station, Ballary. It is alleged that on

12.11.2022 at about 8:00 a.m., when he was participating in

the annual sports event conducted at DAR ground in Ballary,

the petitioner approached him and demanded money saying

that otherwise he will publish against him in his news paper.

Thereafter on 30.11.2022, he published in his kannada news

paper namely ‘Jagruti Kirana’ some baseless and derogatory

remarks against the complainant.

It is alleged that the petitioner is the editor of

Kannada news paper ‘Jagruti Kirana’. He tried to extort money

from the complainant and threatened him saying that if money

is not given he will publish against him in his news paper. Since

the complainant did not take his words seriously, the petitioner

published

defamatory

and

baseless

news

against

the

complainant in his ne
