THE HIGH COURT OF KARNATAKA
SURAJ GOVINDARAJ
VIVEK SANNAGUNDLA – Appellant
Versus
THE STATE OF KARNATAKA – Respondent
WP 13284/2025
ORDER
1. The petitioners are before this Court seeking for the following reliefs:
(a) Issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents No.2 and 3 to include the names of the petitioners in the final eligible voter list and permit the petitioners to contest and vote in the upcoming elections to respondent No.4 association which is scheduled to be held on 10.05.2025 produced at Annexure-D.
(b) Pass such other orders as may be appropriate in the facts and circumstances of the case, in the ends of justice and equity.
2. Initially the grievance of the petitioners was that their names had not been included in final eligible voters' list and they had sought for permission to vote and contest in the upcoming election.
3. This Court though by way of interim order had permitted petitioners to vote at the election, the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioners is that the petitioners were not permitted to vote.
4. The petition having been filed only to seek for a mandamus to include the name of the petitioners in the list of eligible voters, the petitioners had not been permitted to vote at the election. The grievance would have to be agitated before the appropriate forum and not in the present petition. As such, reserving such liberty, the Writ Petition stands dismissed.
