This revision petition is filed challenging the order dated

5.10.2011 in W.T.(OA) No.2 of 2011 of the Lakshadweep Waqf Tribunal, Kavarathi. The revision petitioner along with the 9th respondent, who are inhabitants of Minicoy Island in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, had filed W.T.(OA) No.2 of 2011 before the Tribunal challenging the legality and correctness of the order No.W.C.1/2008 issued by the Waqf Board. According to the petitioner, the Waqf properties are not being managed properly and a scheme for management has to be framed, including action for recovery of properties in the possession of respondents 5 to 7. There was also a prayer for removal of the Muthawalli. The Waqf Tribunal disposed of the application finding that the leases granted by the Committees in Office for periods beyond one year, without the leave of the Board, are hit by Section 56 of the Waqf Act and are void and consequently occupation of the land and building by the respondents is illegal.
