JUDGMENT

The 1st petitioner is the registered owner of a Tourist Vehicle bearing registration No.KA-01/AG-0335 covered by Ext.P1 tourist permit, which is valid throughout India for the period from 01.09.2016 to 31.08.2021. The 2nd petitioner is the registered owner of another Tourist Vehicle bearing registration No.KA-01/AG- 5300 covered by Ext.P3 permit, which is valid throughout India for the period from 06.01.2017 to 05.01.2022. The petitioners have filed this writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking a writ of mandamus commanding the 1st respondent Sub Inspector of Police, Dharmadam Police Station, Kannur District from interfering with the operation of services by the petitioners on the strength of Exts.P1 and P3 permits, while picking up passengers during their return journey to Bangalore, on payment of tax in the State of Kerala. The petitioners have also sought for a writ of mandamus commanding the 1st respondent to pay suitable compensation to them for effecting forcible cancellation of trips as evidenced by Ext.P7 press report appeared in Malayala Manorama daily, Kannur edition dated 31.01.2017.
