(Paras 1-2)

(B) Writ Jurisdiction – The court emphasized that the progress of the election petition indicated the lack of basis for the allegations made in the writ petitions. (Paras 1-2)

Facts of the case: The writ petitions sought to compel the Kerala State Election Commission to expedite the trial of two original petitions regarding disqualification of members, citing delays in proceedings.

Findings of Court: The court concluded that the allegations in the writ petitions were baseless and dismissed them.

Issues: The main issue was whether the Kerala State Election Commission was delaying the trial of the election petitions without justification.

Ratio Decidendi: The court ruled that the progress of the election petition proceedings demonstrated that the allegations in the writ petitions lacked merit.

Result: Writ petitions dismissed.
