COMMON JUDGMENT

The petitioners in these writ petitions are Cable TV operators. The petitioners are aggrieved by the notices issued by the Officers of the Electricity Board, to recover the pole rent for the cable T V network from the year 2016 – 2022. According to the petitioners, the notice is issued without any authority. It is also stated that huge amount is mentioned as interest. It is also the case of the petitioner that, no opportunity for hearing is given to the petitioner before issuing these impugned notices.

Hence, these writ petitions are filed.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the standing counsel appearing for the respondent, Electricity Board.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners reiterated the contentions raised in these writ petitions. The standing counsel on the other hand submitted that even without getting permission from the Board, the petitioners drawn the cable through the Electric Post. It is submitted that, not even a single pie is payed by the petitioners towards the rent. It is also submitted that, taking a lenient view, the Board decided to regularize the same. Therefore, the impugned notices were issued
